Boston Graduation Celebration for Sisters Taylor & Chloe
Graduation sessions are always special, but Taylor and Chloe’s celebration had an extra layer of meaning. These two sisters were celebrating major milestones at nearly the same time and after missing out on traditional graduations in 2020, this felt like the perfect opportunity to finally go big and celebrate together.
Taylor and Chloe grew up in a military family, living in Oklahoma, Maryland, Hawaiʻi, and Washington state before their journeys eventually brought them both to Boston.
Taylor moved to Boston in 2015 to study mechanical engineering at Northeastern University. Years later, she completed her M.S. in Product Design & Manufacture at Boston University, balancing graduate school with work along the way.
Chloe followed her sister to Boston in 2020 and graduated from Northeastern University in 2025 with a B.S. in American Sign Language to English Interpretation.
The Graduation Celebration They Missed in 2020
This wasn't the first time the sisters graduated around the same time.
In 2020, Taylor graduated from college while Chloe graduated from high school. Because of the pandemic, neither of them had the traditional graduation celebration they had imagined. So this time around, they had even more reason to celebrate.
Instead of scheduling separate graduation sessions, they decided to do their photos together. They knew having each other there would help them relax, laugh, and feel more natural in front of the camera, and they were absolutely right.
We made plenty of individual portraits for each sister while also capturing the candid, joyful moments between them.
A Little Piece of Hawaiʻi in Boston
One of my favorite details was Chloe's beautiful lei poʻo, a traditional Hawaiian lei worn on the head.
Their family often celebrates special occasions with lei poʻo, so including one for graduation was especially meaningful. Chloe chose purple orchids to coordinate with her lavender dress, and the colors looked absolutely beautiful against all the spring greenery.
It was such a lovely way to bring a little piece of home into her Boston graduation photos.
Beacon Hill, Boston Public Garden & Lots of Laughter
We photographed around Beacon Hill and the Boston Public Garden, giving us a beautiful mix of classic Boston architecture, cobblestone streets, spring greenery, and golden evening light. And of course, we had to celebrate with some sparkling bottle photos!
A complimentary celebratory bottle is something I offer with my graduation sessions, and Taylor and Chloe opted for sparkling cider instead of alcohol. The spraying photos quickly became one of the most joyful and unscripted parts of our evening.
They laughed, cheered each other on, and simply had fun together. Looking back, they told me those photos were one of their favorite memories from the session.
Looking Back
About a year and a half later, Taylor and Chloe told me how happy they were that they chose to document this chapter together. So much can change in such a short time, making photographs like these even more meaningful as the years pass.
Their advice to other siblings considering graduation photos together? Absolutely do it.
They got the candid moments and laughter they wanted together, while still having individual graduation portraits celebrating their own accomplishments. It really was the best of both worlds.
Congratulations again, Taylor and Chloe. I loved getting to celebrate these milestones with you and capture such a joyful chapter in your lives together.
